Fiona is a distinctive and award-winning songwriter who plays acoustic finger-style country blues, taking audiences on a musical journey from the church-house to the barrel-house!

Described by Rhythms magazine as Australias most significant female blues performer, Fiona appears at the Australian Blues Music Festival after years of extraordinary achievements both internationally and here at home.

As winner of the 2003 International Blues Challenge in Memphis, she was invited to perform at the International Blues Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony where 90 year old legendary Delta blues pianist Pinetop Perkins said of her I aint never heard a woman finger-pick a guitar like that since I knew Memphis Minnie. Shes a best gal guitar player I heard in more than 35 years.

Winner of the Bluestar Peoples' Choice Award 2007 for 'Best Australasian Vocal - Female', and nominated for 2008 'Contemporary Female Blues Artist of the Year' at the Blues Music Awards in Memphis.

Fiona Boyes featured at the Australian Blues Music Festival with the Fortune Tellers in 2005, in 2004 and with The Mojos in 2001, 2000 & 1997. We welcome Fiona back to the Festival in 2009 as the Official Ambassador. She'll be performing electric with her band (featuring Nick Charles) as well as performing solo and conducting a workshop.
