Matt Corcoran (VIC)Matt Corcorans Groove Blues is the new sound of Blues. Solo and seated, Matts performances build momentum with his driving rhythmic slide guitar, stomping bass drum, harmonica and bursting vocals. He samples various instruments live, and then loops and interlays them to form hypnotic blues grooves. This is done live on stage with the use of foot switches with no backing tapes and no sequencers. Matt also plays drums and percussion with his feet.
He plays slide sitting down, strums the guitar like Geoff Healy, uses a Wah
Wah pedal, and plays over the neck (not under the neck like most slide
players).
Hailing from Perth, Western Australia, Matt's first musical influences stemmed from his fathers passion with the bluegrass banjo and collection of Matt Taylor records. Matt is influenced by the likes of John Lee Hooker and RL Burnside.
