Mississippi Shakedown (NSW)

Mississippi Shakedown is a band with a minimum of fuss and a maximum of effect - a 3 piece unit led by blues rock charged slide guitar and a "Don't bore us, get to the chorus" attitude. These guys are high energy and good fun with influences from the deep south.

Their current CD features all original songs with an original attitude. The band takes no prisoners on their journey to 'shakedown' an audience - once seen, never forgotten, once heard ALWAYS loved!

Mississippi Shakedown never fail to please an audience, whether it be a room full of blues aficionados or 'smoky pub Joe Public', they always hit the mark.

Fronted by Jeff Cripps on slide guitar and vocals. (Jeff is the well known owner of A# Sharp Recording Studio and 2002, 2005 & 2006 Australian Blues Music Awards 'Producer of the Year' as well as producer of a dozen other artists who have also won Chain Awards for material recorded in Jeff's studio.) Mississippi Shakedown is driven by John Gannon on bass with Derek Smith on drums in the engine room. Together, this trio in the style of Elmore James/Hound Dog Taylor, deliver one of the happiest sets of blues around and are sure to have everyone up on their feet hollering for more.

Finalists in the Sydney Blues Society 2007 Performer of the Year Competition.

Mississippi Shakedown featured at the Australian Blues Music Festival in 2005. They returned for a special pre-Festival gig at Tarago's charming Loaded Dog Hotel as a once-off performance leading up to the big 2007 Festival weekend. We are pleased to welcome the exciting Mississippi Shakedown back in2008 . Jeff Cripps will also be presenting a studio recording workshop at the 2008 Festival.
